Summer 2014's Go-To Nail Colors

Hey guys! I rarely have my nails painted, but during the summer is the perfect time! I always lean towards a nude color, or sort of a mink/light pink. But now that the neon trend has been going strong for a while, I might give that a whirl soon! I am also liking the gold accents that some are applying to their nails, which gives it an elegant and fancy look. Here is what I'm loving:

I think this color is perfect for summer. It is fresh and oh-so bright!

I like this look a lot, but there is a lot that is going on with it. I would've done just one gold accent.

This is the way to do it, not overkill, and a great way to hide those dreaded/awful cuticles!

That's all for today! What's your go-to summer nail color? Is it bright and out-there, or light and springy? Have a great rest of the day, thanks for stopping by!

Classic Twist Tuesday: Khakis Edition

Hey y'all! So I am bringing Classic Twist Tuesday back, and hoping to make it a regular thing. Today I will be talking about khaki pants- worn by men and women. I will be discussing how it has changed throughout the years. Let's get started!

Male Vintage Preppy: Focus on the man in this
picture. His style is full of textures and soft colors. He is not really into brights like today. And he is also wearing socks with his loafers, which is out of the ordinary today. Ha!

Female Vintage Preppy: This look could still be worn today, but today you would see maybe a bright cardigan instead of the black. Still love it, though!

Male Modern-Day Prep: I absolutely love this picture, even though I prefer a good 'ole bowtie! This look contrast the vintage look because of the bright colors, that surprisingly go well together!

Female Modern-Day Prep: I love Tommy Hilfiger ads, but even more now because their usage of colored khakis! Focus on the woman with the red khakis on, this contrast the vintage look because of the bright colors that she is wearing. But she pulls it back in with the tan loafers, which I have started to love. Especially these!

Well guys, that's it for today! I hoped you enjoyed it, and please feel free to comment and suggest what I should contrast next Tuesday for CTT. Thanks, and have a fabulous day!

Community Column Information

Hey lovelies! So sorry for double blogging today, but I forgot to talk about/mention the newly added Community Column on JC&P. What I am looking at including in this column is sort of an idea like a "world news" or topic discussion about things happening around the globe that concern us women (or even you male readers!).

So you have an idea about what I am looking at, here is an example (and the steps to doing so):

  1. If you have a topic or even an idea that you want to speak about, you will email me and type out what you want to say.
  2. I will then copy and paste it over to the blog and include your name, email, and if you have a blog then I will include that.
  3. Hopefully by the end of the posting date, we will then have a discussion "brewing", and we will get to see different sides of the story in regards to that certain topic.
  4. Maybe, given the popularity of the Column, we can maybe branch off of that and create a newsletter of some sort that will be emailed to the readers!
But, I don't want to get ahead of myself, so read #4 above at your own risk. Ha!

Well that just gives you a taste of what I'm thinking about for the weeks to come. I hope you find something that you would like to share with fellow JC&P readers and me, also. Thank you so much and have a great rest of the day!

Friday's Favorites

Hey y'all! I hope y'all are just as ready for the weekend as I am! Here is a list of my Friday Favorites:

1) I am loving this ombre coat that Kate is wearing here! It is so different, but it is still the same 'ole Kate.

2) This fun and sporty shirt form J. Crew. It would be precious with a pair of black shorts and some Jacks!

3) I am loving this book that I purchased last night. I am only on the second chapter, and it is terrific! Grisham is a family favorite in my house, we practically own all of his books!

4) I am also in love with my vintage Louis Vuitton Ellipse bag. I am so sad that they discontinued this handbag, but I am glad that I found one. Here is a picture of it:

5) And finally I am adoring this Pochette that I use as an organizer in all of my bags!

Well that's it for today! Have a great weekend y'all!

Brainstorming + "Pinnin' It"

Hey y'all! It's been a while since I've written on here. I've had a lot on my mind and I would really like to make this a more involved blog. With that said, I want people to comment on here and make it more of a community-based atmosphere and website. Maybe it's the content, or lack there of, on here that y'all don't like. Ha!

Another idea that I have is that if y'all have anything on your minds, or even trend related, y'all could post on here! Y'all would just send to my email and I could post it for y'all. So it would kind of be like a link-up type thing. I would have to renovate and revamp the 'ole blog, but changes are good!

I'm going to try to post about all kinds of stuff. Maybe some fashion, a little bit of beauty, and a lot of miscellaneous junk.

So now, let's get started! If y'all follow me on Pinterest, then you all have seen my Polyvore collages and tons of other stuff. One thing that has gotten tons of feedback is this pin:

In creating this, I wanted a simple look that could be defined and accessorized by bold things. I like how all the accessories (except for the pearls) are all neutral/brown. The leopard scarf perfectly compliments the Bean Boots, which go well together with the tortoiseshell watch.

Please comment below, and tell your friends about my idea above! Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Go Long With Goyard

Hey y'all! If y'all follow me on Pinterest,  y'all would've seen a post that I repinned about a beautiful Goyard bag. If you don't, refer back to yesterday's post!

I have been eyeing these beauties for a while now, and almost every celebrity picture I see- they're carrying a Goyard. If you don't know what they look like, bless your heart. Here's a picture:

Aren't they to-die-for? I don't know what it is about it, maybe the laid-back structure of it where you just throw stuff in and go. Kind of like a Longchamp.

Well that's it for today, folks! Hope you enjoyed! Are there any other bags that y'all are raving about that I should post about? Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!

Friday's How To: The Art of Cartier Stacking

Hello bloggies! Instead of Friday's Five, I will now be doing a Friday How To! Today's is all about the Cartier Love ring. These are really out of my comfort zone, so bare with me!

I fell in love with them when I saw Kylie Jenner wearing them like this:

We can all learn from this, she is a great example of how to stack them. Two or three works great!

I don't know what it is I like about them, I just think they're different and fun! Here is the one that I would like to wear someday! I feel like you can dress it up, or down like Kylie is doing in the picture above. Something that feels so carefree about it, like you just throw it on and go. Throw on a white t-shirt, jeans, boots, and a scarf- you'll be good to go!

Well that was today's Friday How To! Hope you enjoyed it and took some notes! Be sure to check out my Pinterest, and email me at jackcurlsandpearls@yahoo.com if you have any questions! Thanks for stopping by!

"Organiza-what?"

Hey bloggies! Today I'm going to talk about being organized. I know! It's a concept that not a lot of people can grasp. Well, I'm just the girl to help you! With the new semester ahead of us, it's nice to have things sort of planned out. Okay, let's get crackin'!

1. The Organizer, Itself.
I prefer a cute agenda, it's more fun and it sometimes motivates you to accomplish tasks! I am right now using this gem from Lilly. I know right, so cute.

2. Then there's the actual activity of writing it down. This is where people get confused. A lot of people color code, or just write. Here's and example of what Shelby thinks on collegefashion.net!

  • Get colored pens/pencils!
  • Color-code! (In reference to above bullet)
3. Actually complete the tasks that you wrote down!

Have a good Tuesday!

Trend Watch: Spring 2014

Hey ladies! How has y'all's Monday been? Today we will be discussing trends of 2014. Now, I normally don't follow trends, but I think that there are some things that are going to be really cute! Let's get started!

1. Pastels. Pretty lights have always been a staple for early spring and summer, but now even more!

2. Wide-leg trousers. I'm not so sure about this one, but something is grabbing me about it. I like how they look so light and airy!

3. Tea-length skirts. Now these I sure do like. There is something so bohemian about them, but you can make them look super-duper preppy as well! Maybe add some Jacks and a button down, and you've got yourself a pretty outfit!

4. Tuxedo/Athletic Striped Trousers. I think these would do a great job at accentuating your thighs, and even making them look smaller! It would help a lot, too, with lengthening your legs!

5. SHIFT BLOUSES. This is probably one of my favorite 2014 trends. They scream Lilly, I don't know why!

6. Collarless Coats. I always have the problem with layering with a collared coat. Sometimes it looks really awkward when you place your shirt collar over your coat collar. But with these, that is no longer an issue!

Well, those are the spring trends of 2014 that I am most excited about! What are your's? Have a marvelous Monday!

SAG Awards: The Best and Worst Outfits of the Night

Hey y'all! Well, it's awards season! I love this time of year because you get so much stylespiration (style+inspiration) from so many stars! We'll let's get started with my favorites!

I think my favorite was Jennifer Garner in MAX MARA and Brian Atwood, she looked gorgeous y'all. Usually with awards, the bolder the better. But I always lean towards the more simpler looks.

My next favorite was Elisabeth Moss who wore Michael Kors. I just loved the bright red, even though I wasn't too crazy about the black belt, I thought it was perfect!

Sarita Choudhury looked so pretty in the black Nanette Lepore, it was so simple, yet so incredibly chic!

And now the moment that y'all have waited for: THE WORST DRESSED.

I think the most worst dressed last night was probably Mayim Bialik. I wasn't a fan of the lavender and black lace ensemble that she had on. It was rather gothic.

Another worst dressed of the night was Stuart Brazell. I don't know, I just didn't like the floral high-low look that she was sporting.

This is the one that I don't know about, there's something about it that I like. Betsy Brandit looked fabulous in this alice+olivia, I just loved the elegance of it.

What were y'all's favorite looks of the night? Thanks for stopping by, have a sunny Sunday!

Phone Cases!

So today I am discussing phone cases. For me, there is practical and then there is fun. I haven't found the in-between-case yet. That's where y'all come in.

I really want a fun case, that also offers protection. Right now, I am typing this post with a silicone case on my iPhone 5. It's cute, navy and white striped. But I want something fun.

I have an idea, and I need y'all's feedback- ASAP. So, do y'all have any comments on the Otterbox Commuter? I have heard that http://www.personalizedfrommetoyou.com has cute monogrammed ones! This is the one that I am thinking about getting:
It's fun- yet simple and protective. What more could you ask for? If y'all have had any issues with these cases, please comment below and tell me. Thanks, and have a super Sunday!

New Year, New Me!!! (2014 Edition)

Well, this might be a tad late. But hey, better late than never! This year, I want to turn over a whole new leaf. So I have squashed all of my resolutions into one post for y'all. Let's get started!

1. I want to become a better blogger, I know I don't have tons of readers out there. But for those of you who used to read "Jacks" back in the summer,  I'm truly sorry I left y'all hanging! I promise to at least blog once a week, if I can!

2. I want to become more cultured. I need to be exposed to new things! So if y'all have any suggestions, please do tell.

3. I don't want to become too materialistic. Us girls have it naturally in us, and too be honest- I'm tired of it. I have just started to realize that I am truly blessed for the things I am given and for the people I have in my life. I need to start appreciating that more.

4. And with that said, I need to start spending more time with my family. Not everybody has the type of loving and caring family that I do.

5. I need to give back. There are so many great causes in my community- and I bet yours! Even if it is just spending time with the less fortunate or helping at the Children's Hospital, I just want them to know that they are loved and are truly special and have someone that cares about them.

So those are my New Year's Resolutions, what are your's?
